Freshwater pearls.

Okay, so here's what's up--I had two strands of pearls that I got (really cheap--$1 ea.!) on sale.

Problem being--neither was long enough for a full necklace. Great. So--solution being this: String them together, alternating colors, to make a necklace long enough for someone to wear.

The purple are dyed and the peach are cultured. Freshwater. :) Sterling findings; approx. 24 inches total in length.

Strung on no. 4 silk cord, knotted w/ those nifty knotting tweezers... worktime, about 4 1/2 hours because I originally strung them on white, got down to putting the clasp on, decided I didn't like it and so undid all of the knots and restrung it on black. Had a bit of a hard time with knotting them, though, because the pearls are not the same size all in a row.

Mom liked them, at any rate. :)

My heartfelt thanks to JH, who showed me how to do this in the first place.

EDIT: Quick run through GIMP for a bit of cleanup; pearls are a bit difficult to photograph as they are rather shiny...
